Audition for The Restricted Section
Time & Location
About The Event
The Restricted Section, operated by Cabaret Calgary, is a 1920s inspired burlesque experience. Taking place every Wednesday evening in the gorgeous prohibition style speakeasy, Betty Lou's Library, just off 17th Ave, it is a perfect combination of sexy, class, and style.
We aim to deliver an intimate, high caliber show, as well as support artists by offering a consistent and enjoyable stage to perform their craft.
Burlesque acts must be 8-10 minutes long, with a heavy (50% or more) focus on audience interaction. Music is ideally from, or in theme with, the 1920s, however, we are also open to music from, or in the style of, 1910s-50s. Avoid electric guitar or offensive lyrics. Please apply with music, a short description of your act, and an ideal time to audition. Any photos, videos, or other media you can provide of your talents would be appreciated. We encourage performers to include talents that set them apart in their acts.
Burlesque-sideshow? Love it.
Juggling-Handstand-Quick Change-Burlesque? Bring it on.
We are focusing on burlesque performers for this audition. However, if you are a circus performer, comedian magician, musician, singer, etc, please contact us with a description of your act, character (if applicable), music (if applicable), as we are always evolving and expanding to include a greater portion of the performance community. Any photos, videos, or other media you can provide of your talents would be appreciated.
Please bear in mind that the ceiling is low, the stage is small (though there is a larger floor space), the audience is close, and the room is long.
No fire will be allowed.
